Tottenham were awarded a penalty of their own when Patrick Van Aanholt brought down Juan Foyth, but Trippier fired well wide to ensure the Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the break.It was one-way traffic in the second half as Spurs tried in vain to get themselves back into the tie.Substitute Erik Lamela provided a spark and Fernando Llorente forced another good save from Speroni, while at the other end Gazzaniga denied Wilfired Zaha a third goal.3

But Spurs ultimately faltered without their attacking superstars.Their only remaining hopes of silverware this season lie in the Champions League and an unlikely Premier League title bid.
