Manchester City transfer news: Riyad Mahrez will NOT leave Etihad this summer, Pep Guardiola insists
There is no chance Riyad Mahrez will leave Manchester City this summer, manager Pep Guardiola insists.Mahrez, the Algeria winger, is allegedly frustrated at the Etihad as his debut season nears its end, with a lack of game time understood to be his main point of contention.Mahrez has found himself down the pecking order at the Etihad1

Since joining City from Leicester last summer in a 60million deal, Mahrez has largely found himself as one of Guardiola’s rotation options, and he’s only started 13 Premier League games. He has made 42 appearances across all competitions – a respectable total given the incredible strength of City’s squad – but that hasn’t stopped Mahrez voicing his frustration around the City Football Academy for quite a while, according to the Daily Mail. The report claims Mahrez has ‘threatened to quit’ City given his lack of minutes, especially after being an unused substitute in each of the club’s last three matches at this crucial stage of the season. Mahrez finds himself behind PFA Player of the Year candidates Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva in the pecking order, and it’s fair to say, when given opportunities, his performances have not been stellar. But there is no chance the 28-year-old will leave the Etihad this summer, Guardiola insists.Questioned about the reports in his pre-Manchester United press conference, Guardiola said: “Riyad Mahrez will be with us next season and the next one, and the next one.“I don’t need to speak with him. He knows we are happy with him.”
