Sir Alex Ferguson has given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his backing to become permanent manager of Manchester United, reports claim.The interim boss has transformed the mood at Old Trafford since the sacking of Jose Mourinho, winning eleven of his 13 games in charge.1

His predecessor claimed it would take a ‘miracle’ to climb into the top four, but already Solskjaer has United inside the Champions League qualification places, and will look to cement that position when they welcome Liverpool on Sunday.And, according to the Mirror, Sir Alex has been mightily impressed and wants him to be given the full-time role.The pair have a close relationship, which remains in-tact following Solskjaer’s successful career as a player under Fergie. The legendary boss is understood top be pleased with Solskjaer’s attacking approach – bringing back memories of the great United teams under the Scot’s reign.Sir Alex will have a significant say in the appointment of a permanent manager due to his role on the board at Old Trafford.Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be the other standout candidate for the role, but Solskjaer would make himself increasingly difficult to overlook with victory against Liverpool.
