Top ten biggest transfer deals of the summer, including Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and Frenkie de Jong to Barcelona
The summer hasn’t even technically started yet but already the transfers are flying.They’re not just small-money deals and pre-contract agreements, like with Aaron Ramsey’s move to Juventus.

11Eden Hazard finally secured his ‘dream’ switch to Real MadridEden Hazard’s move to Real Madrid may well have kick-started the market, coming in at a cool 88million, initially.It’s just a shame for Chelsea they cannot spend the money until their transfer ban is either cancelled or over next summer.The Hazard move has, though, set the bar and will give clubs the perfect barometer for other transfer fees.It’s currently the biggest deal so far, but who else makes the top ten? Kerem Demirbay (Hoffenheim to Bayer Leverkusen) – 24millionLong-linked with a Premier League switch, with both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal both reportedly interested, Demirbay has swapped Bundesliga clubs this window.A German international, Demirbay is an excellent creative midfielder and is needed to replace the outgoing Julian Brandt at Leverkusen.

Benjamin Pavard (Stuttgart to Bayern Munich) 31.4millionIt’s been a year since the French defender got fans drooling at the World Cup with his stunning strike against Argentina.He wasn’t able to save his former club from relegation but his big fee will help them rebuild in the German second tier.Pavard’s tactical versatility make him a fine acquisition for Bayern.

Eder Militao (FC Porto to Real Madrid) – 45millionThis was announced back in March but is still technically a summer transfer, with the deal not ratified until June.The Brazilian defender’s rise to the top has been extraordinary given he only joined Porto last summer – for just 5million.He initially played at right-back in Portugal but then excelled in the centre of defence, where he is likely to operate for Zinedine Zidane.

Luka Jovic (Eintracht Frankfurt to Real Madrid) – 58millionOne of the finest young poachers in world football, the Serbian was an inspired loan signing from Benfica by the Germans two summers ago.After 34 goals in 70 games they jumped at the chance to activate a 7million clause in his contract back in April.Just two months later they have sold him for almost ten times the amount – although around 10million is set to go to Benfica as part of their arrangement.
